Certificate students will receive a well-rounded education enhancing their scientific understanding of plants, their knowledge of visual arts theory, and the way they approach drawing and painting plant portraits. The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden offers many learning opportunities for both children and adults. The garden’s classes about photography and Adobe Photoshop may be of special interest to ArtPlantae readers. View a complete list of current classes on the garden’s website.

    Botanical Illustration: The Beauty of Orchids
    Thursdays, Jan 20 – Feb 24, 2011; 4:00 – 6:30 PM. This class is designed for both aspiring and experienced artists. During this six-week course, participants will learn how to draw and paint orchids. Participants will also learn about brushes, paper, and the morphological features of orchids.
    Cost: $125 members, $150 nonmembers.

    Adobe Photoshop for Beginners & Photographers

    Sunday, Jan 30, 2011; 1:30 – 4:00 PM.
    Cost: $40 members, $46 nonmembers
