National Environmental Education Week is less than one month away. I wanted to remind you that this website will be updated everyday during EE Week (April 11-17, 2010). There will be many interesting things to learn here at ArtPlantae Today, on the EE Week website, and on the websites of other EE Week partners.

The schedule for this website will be posted in detail soon. Get ready to learn from artists, teachers, authors, and individuals who have made caring for the environment their life’s work.

Thank you for your continued interest and support of ArtPlantae.

It was a day full of good conversation, lovely flower drawings, and an infusion of doodles into the guest sketchbook. More information was collected for the Curriculum Survey and teachers expressed an interest in ArtPlantae’s educational objectives. Information about National Environmental Education Week was distributed throughout the day and hopefully teachers and parents will share information about this event with others. The books on display received a lot of interest. This year the presentation focused on the many different ways botanical illustrators help us learn about plants.

I met a very young botanist working on a leaf project. Her mom and I picked through the leaves in my box and I was able to help the young botanist with her leaf collecting. I hope her project is a success.

There was some interest in the colored pencils used at the drawing stations. Here is a link to Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Premium Oil-Based Colored Pencils from Blick Art Materials. (Note: ArtPlantae is an affiliate of Blick Art Materials).

Many thanks to everyone who stopped by Ayres Hall. It was very nice to meet you.
