A new exhibit opens today at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. The Garden commissioned twenty watercolor paintings of California wildflowers by botanical artist and conservationist, Patrick O’Hara. Unlike traditional botanical art which features plant specimens isolated on a single sheet of paper, O’Hara’s paintings reveal plants in their natural habitats.
The Wildflowers of California exhibit will be on display in the Blaksley Library through April 30, 2009. The complete collection can be viewed online at the Garden bookstore. Gicleé prints of each painting can be purchased both online and in the Garden.
