Today’s Botanical Artists is a book both particularly inspirational and valuable for botanical artists. I am always looking for books of contemporary botanicals which contain masterful images in varied styles and media as this book does. I have delighted in looking through this book, admiring the various individual styles–traditonal botanical illustrations, paintings in oil and watercolor developed from photo realism, computer manipulated botanicals. These botanicals bring to me new and charming images of plants. The colors are lush, the compositions inspired. All are completed with the artistry of virtuousos.
What a fabulous collection of images from contemporary artists! The colors are reproduced beautifully and the information is well organized. That being said, DIDN’T ANYBODY PROOFREAD THIS BOOK? The typos/misspellings start before you even open the book and continue throughout. Labels have been switched on artwork. It looks as though everyone was so focused on the art that nobody bothered to check the text. It is a disservice to the artists to present their work this way.
